Backup & Business Continuity

Backups only count if you can restore them

An untested external drive is not a recovery plan. We help small and medium businesses across the UK put backups in place that cover the systems they actually rely on, and check that a restore is possible before they need it. NovaStak Ltd is based in Northamptonshire.

Why this gets left until it hurts

Nobody has tried a restore

The job “succeeds” every night. That is not the same as getting last Thursday’s accounts back.

Ransomware encrypts the backup too

Copies sit on the same machine or a mapped drive the malware can reach.

Microsoft 365 is assumed “safe”

Deleted mail and SharePoint files have retention limits. Accidental or malicious deletion still happens.

A recovery plan you can explain

You should be able to say what is backed up, where it lives, and roughly how you would get people working after a failed server, a flood in the office, or a ransomware incident. We keep that explanation honest, with no invented recovery times.

Backup belongs with cybersecurity and day-to-day support.

Backup questions

Do you only back up servers?

We look at what would stop the business: line-of-business systems, file shares, Microsoft 365 data and the devices people cannot work without. The mix is different in every company.

Can you work with backups we already have?

Often yes. The first job is to understand whether those copies are complete, isolated and restorable, then improve what is missing.
